what’s the difference between the white and the blue? O.o (Taken with instagram)
The Giants and Pats to go head to head in the Superbowl. Call me crazy, but I think I’ve seen this game already. I think it ended with the overrated Patriots getting “upset” by a mere 3 points. The Patriots came through the 2007 season 16-0 with the brunt of their success being given to the arm of Tom Brady. This time around, Brady doesn’t have Randy Moss’ hands to toss to. He still has the capable hands of Wes Welker, who I would look to as a big player in the upcoming match-up as long as he comes back from his knee injury. For now he’s still questionable, but no player would want to sit the sidelines during the superbowl. I don’t see his injury being bad enough to keep him out of this game. And with BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Kevin Faulk to handle the ground assault, the Giants defense will still have more than their hands full on this match-up.
The Patriot’s O-line was a major downfall in the 2007 super bowl. With 5 sacks and 1 lost fumble, it would’ve been a tough game for any team. But with the Patriots, the offense was the Superstar of this team. When the offense didn’t show up to play in 2007, there wasn’t much hope left for this team to pull through. The same can be said of the 2011 Patriots. The O-line is about comparable to the 2007 Patriots. Ryan Wendell at center is going to be an important leader for this offensive line. It’s going to be important for this offensive line to bring their A-game for this rematch against the Giants. Also, look to Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski at TE to make some great plays for this offense.
Another thing to look at for this match-up is the Patriots defense. To which, I really mean the lack of defense. The only notable players on this defense in my opinion are Jared Mayo and Brandon Spikes. The simple fact is if the offense doesn’t come to play, there’s no way for this defense to hold off the Giants’ offense.
The only real thing I have to say about the Giants is their inconsistency this season. My conclusion is, if the Giants show up to play, they should have no problem rolling through the Pat’s defense. I’d look at them to come out the winners over the Pats by 10 points. If the Giants don’t come to play, they simply won’t be able to hold off the Patriots offense.
I take the Giants in this game by 10, but So far, I’ve only talked Pats this round. So, look for another post soon with my in-depth take on this years’ Giants team.
In the meantime, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Both on my analysis of the Pats and your thoughts on the Giants and the outcome of this rematch!
